Women safety is the most trending topic in our country right now, I feel embarrassed to say this because it should be a cause of worry to all of us than a topic of discussion. We talk so much about modernization and technological advancements that we forget all it takes is a scratch on the lifeline nerves on your body to put a full stop. None of our modernization or advancements will stand by us or reincarnate us.

People are so focused on doing postmortems and discussing on the most brutal punishment to the convict. But what people don't realize is the fact that this is not going to stop such offences in future. We always refer to gulf countries rules where the punishment for such activities are brutal, but did those punishments eradicate these cowardly assaults on women. No it hasn't, it keeps happening in some nooks and corners. I am not saying the punishments for such victims needs to be diluted, they still deserve the highest punishment that our country has in our jurisdiction. All these as I mentioned earlier are mere postmortems, our focus should be on getting things fixed at the root level. Charity begins at home likewise a well behaved kid emerges from a home, he will still learn a lot from this society but the character of a kid emerges from the way he is bought up at his home. Respect for women should be the most important syllabus of his education cycle at home.

They grow up looking at the amount of respect given to their mothers and the other women folks in their home. I would call this as mirror learning because whatever is projected to them is what they see. That sets the benchmark in his heart of how women are treated in this society and what is expected of him. A kid becomes a teenager and might come across a lot of women on his way, he might have different consideration for each women. But all these are biological factors on which nobody can put a lid and say my heart is secured. What could stay constant is the reflection of the image that he had seen in his mirror learning about respecting women. At no stage will he embrace violence to dignify his authority on a woman for any reason. The learning that he had absorbed all these while will help him create a barrier and provide him that buffer to think and act wisely on any situation. For your son his mother is the first woman in his life and for you she is the best woman in your life. How you treat her or for that matter any women in your family determines the way your son reciprocates his respect to all other women he comes across. Think this as a cultural reformation than a criminal rehabilitation
And finally, 8 men in Haryana gang raped and killed a PREGNANT GOAT - yeah you read that right "A PREGNANT GOAT".
